Top 5 Electric Vehicle Stocks That Can Grow Exponentially in the Future

India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector is on the brink of a multi-year exponential growth cycle. Three major forces are converging at the same time—rising fuel prices, falling battery costs, and massive government + private investment. As a result, EV adoption is shifting from early adopters to the mainstream.

EV passenger vehicle sales more than doubled in the first half of FY 2025–26, and major automakers like Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, and Tata have announced multi-billion-dollar EV and battery projects in India. Charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, further reducing range anxiety.

With improving technology, local battery manufacturing, and growing consumer acceptance, EV stocks represent one of the most powerful long-term investment opportunities for retail investors and finance students.

Below are five fundamentally strong EV-aligned stocks, trading near fair value and suitable for long-term portfolios.

    1. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)

NSE: M&M | Sector: Passenger EVs & Commercial EVs

Mahindra is a front-runner in India’s EV evolution with its Born Electric (BE) SUV lineup and strong commercial EV offerings. Its collaboration with Volkswagen for platforms and components gives it significant global leverage in EV technology.

    • Two new electric SUVs planned for 2026
    • Committed ₹12,000 crore to EV projects
    • Strategic technology partnership with Volkswagen

Mahindra aims to double its EV market share by 2028, capitalizing on India’s rising demand for premium electric SUVs.

Pros: Global partnerships, strong branding, expanding EV roadmap
Cons: EV margins still lower than traditional ICE vehicles

    2. TVS Motor Company

NSE: TVSMOTOR | Sector: Two-Wheeler EVs

TVS Motor leads the two-wheeler EV transformation with its iQube and Xonic models. The company is rapidly scaling production, expanding its EV charging ecosystem, and growing its export presence.

    • Revenue: ₹9,470 crore in Q2 FY26 (↑ 29% YoY)
    • Net Profit: ₹906 crore (↑ 37% YoY)
    • EV Sales Growth: 7% QoQ

Two-wheelers constitute over 70% of India’s total vehicle market. TVS’s early leadership gives it a massive competitive edge.

Pros: Strong dealer network, brand loyalty, consistent EV sales growth
Cons: Heavy competition from Ola and Hero MotoCorp

Outlook: Building new EV-dedicated facilities and battery expertise in Tamil Nadu.

    3. Bajaj Auto

    NSE: BAJAJ-AUTO | Sector: Two- & Three-Wheeler EVs

Bajaj Auto has made a solid entry into the EV space with its Chetak Electric scooter and electric three-wheeler offerings. Known for its engineering strength and durable products, Bajaj is now scaling EV production both domestically and globally.

    • EV share ~6% of domestic sales (FY25)
    • Export presence in 70+ countries
    • Improving operating margins

Bajaj’s strong distribution system and export dominance position it to capture long-term EV market share across multiple segments.

Pros: Cash-rich, strong branding, global presence
Cons: EV share still small compared to ICE portfolio

Future Plan: Expanding EV product line and entering 200+ new EV markets in India.

    4. Exide Industries

NSE: EXIDEIND | Sector: Battery Technology & Energy Storage

Exide Industries is transforming from a traditional battery maker into a major EV energy solutions company. Its upcoming lithium-ion gigafactory places it at the center of India’s battery localization mission.

    • Large-scale investment into Li-ion cell production
    • Strong OEM tie-ups with leading EV manufacturers
    • Steady revenue growth across automotive and energy sectors

Battery costs account for nearly 40% of an EV’s price. With domestic manufacturing, EVs will become significantly cheaper—making Exide a major long-term beneficiary.

Pros: Strong brand, manufacturing scale, diversified customer base
Cons: Battery technology evolving rapidly, requiring continuous capex

Growth Focus: Recycling, battery-as-a-service, energy storage systems.

    5. Maruti Suzuki India

NSE: MARUTI | Sector: Passenger Vehicles & Future EVs

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is gearing up for a major EV push with its first mass-market electric SUV expected around 2026. Backed by Suzuki Japan’s R&D and strong financials, Maruti is preparing to compete aggressively in the affordable EV segment.

    • Strong cash flows and minimal debt
    • Largest dealership network in the country
    • EV investments aligned with long-term cost competitiveness

Once Maruti enters the EV market at scale, mass adoption in the ₹10–15 lakh segment could accelerate dramatically.

Pros: Brand leadership, cost efficiency, unbeatable distribution
Cons: Late entry compared to competitors like Tata and Mahindra

Outlook: Focus on battery localization, hybrid-EV combinations, and mass-market affordability.

Pros and Cons of Investing in EV Stocks

    ProsCons
Strong long-term growth due to India’s clean energy policiesHigh capital requirement and lower near-term profitability
Government support through FAME-II & PLI schemesRapid technological evolution in batteries
Rising demand across 2W, 4W, and commercial EV categoriesHigh competition among domestic & global players

How to Maximize Returns in EV Stocks

Diversify across segments – mix automakers with battery players.

    • Track policy announcements – incentives can drive major stock movements.
    • Use SIP or staggered buying – reduces risk in volatile phases.
    • Hold for 3–5 years – EV adoption is accelerating but still in the early innings.

EVs are not just another trend—they are a structural shift driven by economics, policy, and consumer demand. Investors who position themselves early in this megatrend can benefit from long-term wealth creation.
